I use the Atahualpa theme, which gives me control of both the "Pages" menu bar and the blog "Categories" bar, placing it anywhere I wish in the header area, and styling it any way I wish. It's probably one of the most customizable WordPress themes available (and it's free, which is really cool). With extreme customization, you can make your main menu "transparent" - see another site I created using the same theme that illustrates the power: www.MidlifeHeart.com.

Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here.

Hi – very great website you have established. I enjoyed reading this posting. I did want to issue a comment to tell you that the design of this site is very aesthetically pleasing. I used to be a graphic designer, now I am a copy editor for a merchandising firm. I have always enjoyed working with computing machines and am trying to learn computer code in my spare time (which there is never enough of lol).

Homebrew, I use the Atahualpa Theme, which is free. It is highly customizable, and I have taken advantage of that capability throughout this site. It requires a fair amount of CSS knowledge to do it, but the theme’s flexibility is fantastic. ~~Dan
